At McNeils Mill we keep and breed our favourite birds - the ‘Buff Orpington’. At differing times of the year, we have fertile eggs or growing pullets available. All our pedigree birds are free ranging.

Buff Orpington

The Buff Orpington is the most fluffy and docile of chickens and ideal for children. It’s a striking colour that works well in any garden.

They are a British dual purpose breed of chicken specially developed for eggs and meat. The fabulous mass of soft feathers help to keep them warm in the colder months of the year. In the hotter months of the year, they will likely stay shaded from the heat of the day, venturing out early morning and late afternoon to go bug hunting.

Buff Orpington’s aren’t a prolific laying bird, but will give you around 250 small cream coloured eggs each year.
